Interpolation Technology Brief

Active Sky Advanced utilizes a unique new quadrangle-influenced, range-weighted interpolation algorithm which individually and intelligently interpolates all weather data parameters from the four nearest stations in each quadrangle-segmented (by compass bearing) from any station that lacks original data.

Specific techniques are used for temperature interpolation, where the average elevation difference from the quadrangle source data positions is taken into account along with temperature lapse rate based on computed air stability to accurately determine temperatures in sparse mountainous areas.

The new advanced interpolation techniques use a re-designed high performance indexed station array system and enable interpolated map graphics for all stations including virtual gap stations.
